I have mentioned it a lot lately, but I feel incredibly blessed to be able to do what I do. Yes, I enjoy shooting and creating art, but above all else, I enjoy meeting new people and hearing a little bit about their lives…who they are…their struggles and their triumphs…their hopes and dreams…….
Marion (who has the most incredibly hair and eyes) called me out of the blue and asked me if I was able to do a last minute photo session with her and her parents. She was down visiting with them and had to return home in just a few days. It was important to her to be able to have this session done. Her father, David, has cancer. This man, this family….wow, what strength and love and determination and incredible faith. You see, this isn’t David’s first brush with cancer. In fact, it isn’t his second either…it’s his 4th. He is, in his words, a 50 year survivor of cancer. I compare him to David versus Goliath. He’s been fighting and beating this since he was a teen. Recently, he was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. I know he will continue to battle this Goliath.
As a side note, David’s beautiful wife, Nancy works for a local child abuse organization called Castle which works “to improve the quality of family life and prevent child abuse and neglect by providing community education, support and resources for parents in need of assistance on the Treasure Coast and Okeechobee County.” This is a subject near and dear to me and I implore each of you to see what you might be able to do in your community to help prevent child abuse.
David, Nancy and Marion…it was a brief period together but I thoroughly enjoyed it. You are such incredible, strong, and beautiful people inside and out. I hope that your other daughter will be able to join us next time. Enjoy your sneak peeks….
I ask each of my visitors here to pray for this family as well as other families who are facing similar situations.
From my family to yours…God Bless and Happy Easter!
